Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is an iconic London Pub, located on Fleet Street, the former home of the British Press. By entering this pub you’re following in the footsteps of literary greats including Charles Dickens and Doctor Samuel Johnson (who wrote the first dictionary). At the door you’ll see a list of all of the monarchs this pub has seen throughout it’s history, starting with when it was rebuilt in the reign of King Charles II.

The pub is set out in a labyrinth of rooms, some at ground level, but be sure to go down the stairs on the left as you walk in to explore the tunnels with alcove seating, leading you to the cavernous cellar bar.

Their drink selection is limited with it being owned by the Samuel Smith brewery, so expect their own beers, lagers and ciders, but they do have some bottled drinks available.

For the history, the cellars and character of the building, this place is very much worth a visit.
